Fashion designer and garment constructor.
Max Michael Miller works through the full process of making: research, illustration, pattern development, fitting, textile manipulation, technical documentation, and final construction. His practice is grounded in sustained material investigation and the belief that a garment’s meaning should be inseparable from the way it is made.
Based in Bloomington, Indiana, with New York availability, Miller is completing a B.A. in Fashion Design at Indiana University’s Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design. His work has received the NSAL Indiana Chapter Career Award and the Bill Blass Scholarship.
Practice
Ideas carried through the entire garment-making process.
Miller’s projects move between concept-driven collections, bespoke commissions, and focused technical studies. Current areas of attention include engineered denim, pattern systems, Canadian smocking, knitting, surface treatment, and the relationship between expressive form and wearable construction.
